how long do pellets last

hi i was just wondering if anyone knows how long pellets last, because ive had a load for a month now.

Hi Ashley, keep them cool and dry and they have a fair old life. They may have been made in a large batch four months ago so do not throw them away, they have a good life on them.

Depends if you chew them or suck them!!!

As long as they aren't mouldy or off colour they are fine. At sparsholt the trout hatchery manager fed one batch of trout with fresh pellet and another with pellet that was 3 years old but looked fine and there was no difference in the health or growth rates of the two batches. He said that when the pellet manufacturers had pellet sat about for a large period of time (i.e. about a year) they just ground the old pellet up and put it into the new pellet mix.
