Last week saw N.A.F.A. stage their annual three day Festival which was decided on overall weight . 30 anglers participated, sharing some excellent catches over the three days. On Friday night at Rackerhayes the winner was Rick Johnson from "Cow Shed" Peg 96 on Linhay with six tench on pole and caster for 16k 500g. Second was Phil Bailey with tench from Peg 21 on Island Pond for 9k 250g, and third was Dave Campbell on Peg 8 on First Pond, again with tench for 8K 850g.


On Saturday the fishing moved to Key and Bradley, Rick again winning on the day from Key Peg 11 with 13K 300g of roach and skimmers, fishing shallow on the pole with caster. Second was Dave Campbell on Peg 15 in Key with a similar catch for 9K 400g. Third was Junior, Ashley Smith with the top weight at Bradley with 8K 200g of skimmers on the waggler from Peg 25.



It was back to Rackerhayes early on Sunday morning, Dave Campbell caught 6 bream late in the match from Peg 115 on Dores on feeder and pellet for 13K 200g. Second was Howard Watts with 7 tench on the pole from peg 2 on First Pond for 10K 300g. There was a tie for third on the day with Carl Everton and Alex Fitzgerald both having 9K 400g, Carl from Peg 133 on Dores and Alex from Peg 10 on Island. Rick could only manage a few perch from First Pond on Day 3, meaning Dave Campbell edged it overall with a total weight of 31K 450g. Rick Johnston was second with 30k 300g and in third was Ashley Smith with an excellent total weight for a junior of 17k 400g.



Also on Rackerhayes last week was the 'Dave Brailey Memorial Match', fished on Island, Dores and Linhay. Winner was Phil Coles on "Bonus Peg" 111 on Dores with 2 bream and 2 tench for 10K 250g. Second was Jamie Pearce on Peg 73 on Linhay with 3 tench for 7K. Third was Rick Johnson on Peg 115 on Dores with 3 bream for 6K 330g, narrowly beating Mike Mudge on Peg 13 on Island with a mixed bag for 6K 320g.



The latest round of the Tackle Trader Evening Series at Wapperwell was won by Gary Webber on Peg 18 with mainly skimmers for 8K 350g, John Durham was second on the next peg with a similar catch for 7K 600g.



This weekend is the 2nd all night match at Key and Bradley on Saturday night. The Junior Section have a match this Saturday. See www.newtonfishing.com for details.
