Double Update April 21st

Holidays for your webmaster mean there are two updates for you to read.

April 21st Update

The final round of the Oakford Junior Winter League was fished on Wheel Pond last Saturday.


Winner on the day, recording his first match win, was Ashley Smith with 3k 710 of Carp caught from peg 18 on the Pole and Pellet.


Second was Sam Powell with 3k 290g of Silvers caught on the Pole and Maggot. Third was Liam Dore with 2k 550g and fourth was Slade Stevens with 2k 010g.

The League was won by Sam Powell with 113 points, second was Ashley Smith with 109 points, third was Elliot Fay with 101 points and fourth was Ben Avery with 74 points.

The next Senior Club match is the Charity Open, this Sunday, 26th April followed by the Tackle Trader Two Day Open on Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May ..

At Rackerhayes fish Island and Linhay for Tench to 7lb on maggot or sweetcorn, Dores has produced Carp to 29lb 12oz on floaters, fish Weedy for Carp to double figures.

Key is fishing well for Bream on feeder and Roach, Perch and Tench on the Pole.

Fish Bradley for the odd Tench to 5lb, Eddison for Roach, Skimmers and the odd Carp to double figures. Wapperwell for Carp, Tench and Skimmers on pellet or corn, Spring Pond for Carp to double figures and Charlecombe for Carp to 15lb


April 14th Update
The final round of the Tackle Trader N.A.F.A Winter league was fished on Wheel and Wapperwell Ponds last Sunday.

7 anglers were contesting the top 5 positions going into the match, in which some excellent weights were recorded. Winner on the day was Gary Webber from peg 15 at Wapperwell with 19k 800g of Carp, Tench and Skimmers taken on waggler and pellet.


Second was Max Palmer with 15k 100g from peg 5 at wapperwell catching Tench and Carp on the pole and pellet.


Section winner at Wapperwell was Jamie Pearce from peg 17 with 12k 500g and on Wheel Pond the section winner was junior J.J. Lock from peg 4 with 4k 200g.

The league was won by Jamie Pearce with 18 points, 2nd was Max Palmer with 19 points, 3rd Paul Gay with 21 points, 4th Mike Smith with 23 points and 5th was Matthew Pickup who also had 23 points but less section wins.


The next Club match is the Charity Open on Sunday 26th April followed by the Tackle Trader Two Day Open on Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May.

The Junior section has the final round of the Oakford Winter League this Saturday, 18th April, on Spring Ponds- the draw is at 10am at the ponds. For more details visit the Club web site

Elsewhere at Rackerhayes the Tench are still feeding, Mark Cousins had 6 from Island Pond, up to 7lb, on groundbait feeder with caster hookbait. Ivor Hall fished weedy and had a Mirror Carp of 15lb on floaters. Key Pond is fishing well for Skimmers and Roach, fish Spring Pond for Carp to 10lb and Charlecombe for Carp to 15lb
