Pond Closures and update April 28th
The first match of the year at Rackerhayes, the Annual "Charity Open" produced some excellent catches. The Association has donated £150 to Childrens Leukaemia Charities.
Winner on the day was Rick Johnston with 17k 100g consisting of 7 bream from favoured Peg110 on Dores on feeder and pellet.
Second was Phil Coles on Peg 17 on Island with 6 tench on pole and maggot for 12k 450g, and third was Phil Bailey on Peg 133 on Dores with 8k 500g.
The previous Sunday, Wheel Pond was the venue for the latest Club match. In-form Rick Johnston won again with 10k 200g of carp on pole and pellet from peg 2.
Second was Steve Walker on Peg 19 with a similar catch for 7k 400g, and third was Mark Cousins on peg 4 with 6k 500g.
The final round of the "Oakford" Junior Winter League was also fished on Wheel Pond.
On the day the Junior section winner was Elliott Fay with 2k 100g. Second was Ben Avery with 1k 520g and third was Ashley Smith with 1g180g.
In the Intermediate section, winner was Liam Dore with 3k 840g, second was Sam Powell with 3k 520g and third was Jason Fay with 1k 830g.
The League was won overall by Elliot Fay with Ashley Smith in second place, Ben Avery in third and Claire Daniels in fourth place - thanks to all who fished the league and to Oakford Garage, Kingsteignton, for their sponsorship.
Elsewhere, Linhay and First Ponds are both producing numerous tench to over 7lb on maggot, caster or pellet baits. Weedy for carp to double figures and tench to 6lb.
Fish Key for roach, skimmers and odd tench; Eddison for mixed bags; Sawmills for bream to 6lb on feeder or long pole; Wapperwell for carp, tench and skimmers on corn or pellet;
Spring and Charlecombe for carp to double figures.
Members please note; Island, Dores, First and Linhay will be closed this Saturday and Sunday for the Annual Two Day open match. Anyone wishing to fish the match should book in via the usual channels.
