April 30th Update

Some good fishing is to be had with some sizeable specimens coming from many waters. An 8lb 12oz Bream was taken from Linhay, Elliot Fay caught April's fish of the month a 3lb Perch from Key Transport (Picture in the Gallery). Rumours are circulating about a 12lb Tench caught from Island but at the moment that is all they are. Anyone who knows something definite about it please let us know.

N.A.F.A hosted the annual Charity Match at Rackerhayes last weekend on Island, First and Linhay Ponds.

Winner on the day was Phil Bailey from peg 88 on Linhay with 3 Tench, on the pole, for 7k 900g.
There was a tie for second between John Dore on Linhay, peg 96 and Howard Watts also on Linhay, peg 70. Both with 2 Tench, on the pole for 3k 900g.

Many thanks to all the participants who, along with a donation from the club, raised £160 for a charity to be designated at the next committee meeting.

The next club match is the Tackle Trader Two Day Open this Sat and Sun at Rackerhayes followed by the Evening league starting on Wed 6th May. For more details visit the club web site www.newtonfishing.com

Elsewhere, Weedy is producing Tench to 6lb and Carp to double figures on pellets. Dave Bridgeman fished Key Pond for a feeder caught net of Bream totalling 45lb. Eddison is producing odd Carp to 12lb. Fish Sawmills for Bream on the feeder, Wapperwell for mixed bags on pole or waggler and pellet or corn, Spring for Carp to 10lb and Charlecombe for Carp to 15lb. Dace are feeding well at West Golds.

Please note there is a temporary keepnet ban on Wapperwell where the Bream are spawning.

Hi Ian

thanks again for the update, we notice here in the shop that NAFA's waters are getting busier and anglers appreciate the new flow of information from both here and the NAFA site. Keep it up mate Smile

April 30th Update Empty NAFA Tickets

Post by Barry Island Fri May 01, 2009 10:39 am

Thanks Martin - we have noticed we are shifting more and more day tickets. The Committee appreciates times are hard for us all and the Full Members fees seem high @ £75 but we do have some fantastic waters - 14 lakes - and superb stock. Granted some of the waters can be hard going but the rewards are there for the angler prepared to persevere. Other waters are similar to local commercials, costing around £7.00 for a day ticket, but less heavily fished and you are virtually guaranteed runs and bites galore on the Newton waters. When you work out the fees over a year its under £1.50 a week for a senior and with fags aroungd £6.00 a pack and a pint around £2.50 the fee is cracking value really. Look at www.newtonfishing.com on the News and Notices page to see where the cash goes - restocking and swimbuilding in the main - 14 lakes maintained by volunteers remember - nobody takes a penny out it all goes back to members.

Here endeth today's sermon!!! lol!
