May 8th Update
Last weekend saw the annual Two Day Open on Rackerhayes. Despite bright conditions some good fish were caught. Overall winner was Mark Cousins, thanks to a fine catch of Bream and Tench caught on the second day from peg 112 on Dores, to go with a few Perch from Linhay on day one for a total weight of 16k 800g.

Second was Carl Everton who, after blanking on the fancied peg one on Island the first day, had 7 good tench on day two from "the cow shed", peg 96, on Linhay for 15k 200g.

Third was Paul Elworthy, with 13k 800g, Paul's catch was made up of 1k 100g of Roach from First pond on day one and 12k 700g of Tench and Bream from peg 110 on Dores on day two.

Fourth was Jamie Pearce who had a fine Carp of 10k 550g Aplause from Dores, peg 117, on the pole on day two to add to his first days weight of 700g for a total of 11k 250g.

Section winners on day one were; John Durham with 4k on Island Pond, Max Palmer with 4k 200g on First Pond, John Brackley with 2k 800g on Linhay and Gary Thornton with 7k 400g (including a Bream of 4k 150g) on Dores Pond.

Day Two section winners were; Steve Ball with 7k 200g on Island Pond, Howard Watts with 4k 300g on First Pond, Carl Everton with 15k 200g on Linhay and Mark Cousins with 16k 600g on Dores

On top of substantial cash prizes the sponsors put up over £100 of vouchers as prizes.

Elsewhere, at Rackerhayes Weedy is still producing Carp to 14lb on pellet or corn. Wheel Pond for smaller Carp on the pole and pellet. Key Pond for Roach on the pole and Bream on the feeder. Fish Eddison for Skimmers and Roach on maggot and the odd Carp and Tench on corn, Bradley for Roach, Perch, Tench and Skimmers. Wapperwell is a little harder but bags to 20lb on pellet and corn have been reported.

The Club Open Pairs match is his Sunday on Key and Bradley ponds.

The Junior section have the Jenkins Trophy match with Saturday on Wheel Pond - visit www.newtonfishing.com for more details
